Members:

Hi, Gang! Here is the March Newsletter. It's getting on in a new year and we would like to get our membership to grow with some new blood infusions. We need to get our "Tell a Friend" new membership campaign up and going with everyone's help - let's all see about inviting a friend to a meeting. There will be prizes awarded for the member that invites the most friends to our meetings during the year. They don't have to become members to qualify. We will be striving to make our meetings more fun and interesting for everyone. So let's all get into a group spirit and invite some one you know to our meetings. Thanks.

Pete Addeo,

Webmaster & President

DATE & TIME: Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 6:30pm

PLACE: Home of Ken & Cleo Swanson. Call 549-3045 for directions.

PROGRAM: A FUN MEETING THIS MONTH! Instead of our usual Potluck, we will have a MYSTERY DINNER! This should be a very entertaining meeting as no one will know what they are ordering for dinner. You will order off a funny menu and you will not know what you ordered until it is served....I hope everyone can come to this one! If you haven't reserved your spot for the dinner call Cleo right away and reserve your seat!

BUSINESS: Collection of remaining dues from the old die-hards that haven't paid yet!

"FYI" NEWS:

Annual Dues - Dues for 2005 are now due at the new rate of $8.00 per person We need all members to please pay their dues this month as the new membership list will be printed at the end of March. Please pay your dues this month to Zona Lindemann, Membership Chairman or Swede Gustafson, Treasurer. All you die-hards that have not paid up your dues, well, this will be the last newsletter you will get and you will be dropped from the membership list as well.

Presidential Rhizome Drawing - 2 Drawings Again?? We will need to draw 2 names again at this next meeting for the Presidential Rhizome as Pete Addeo has stated that he has also already won in September and also in February and he was not eligible to win for 2 months. We will re-draw for February at the March meeting. If Carol and Pete can stop winning, maybe some other members will be able to win a rhizome too!

Annual Iris Show - Our annual Iris Show is nearing. It will be held on June 11, 2005 at the Southgate Mall in front of JC Penny's. Jim Sadler and Ann Violette are the co-chairs. The theme this year is "The Silver Screen"

Median Show - The show is scheduled for Sunday, May 22, 2005 at "The Clock" at the Southgate Mall. Gary Clark will chair and will be doing a small show with about 4 tables. A nice show to try and attend.

Judges Training - Alverta Symes will be having a judges training meeting on March 13, 2005 at her home. The class will be on "Ethics." It will be an interesting session and all members are invited as well as the students, judges and apprentices who are in training. These meetings are very informative and our members should plan on attending a few of these for the general knowledge and expertise that is being offered by our Masters.

Meeting Locations/Activities for 2005 - Here's the list for the rest of the year's club activities & meetings:

Iris Sale Chair - Looks like we still are in dire need for a chairperson for our biggest event of the year! There must be someone out there that would be willing to chair the Annual Iris Sale for our group!! Where are You?? Maybe if we could get someone to chair the event, we could also get enough VOLUNTEERS to help with the event as well. This has always been the biggest problem for the Sale Chair. Getting Volunteers to help! Alverta is helping with the card file and Gary has volunteered his yard for the sorting location. This is our most important event for our club and we are looking for someone that can take control and we will all help in getting volunteers to help with the work. C'mon guys, let's get in there and get our hands dirty!

Iris Sale Card Party - Alverta Symes will also be having a card party at her home on March 19th from 11am to 3pm. We need everyone to bring any photos you have of iris and any catalogs and magazines you have as well. She needs help with working on the cards and sorting the photos for our annual sale. This will be a brown bag lunch and Alverta will supply the drinks for those attending.

Calendar Orders - Has anyone ordered a calendar and not received it?? Here's a new twist. Swede has more money on account for calendars than how many calendars we had to sell! Contact Swede right away if you're missing a calendar that you paid for and never received.

It's Their Birthday!!....Let's Give 'Em a Cheer!!!

Happy day to Beth Wright - March 1st, and Bob Brown - March 4th. Have a happy birthday and all the good wishes and cheers that go along with it.
