Scotty Smalls (Tom Guiry) is the new kid on a suburban 1960s street who discovers the local boys' neighborhood hangout - "the sandlot," a backyard baseball field with a menacing dog looming over the home run fence. The group's leader Benny (Mike Vitar) takes Scotty under his wing and soon the boys find themselves in all sorts of summertime adventures. The majority of the film was around the Salt Lake City area of Utah.

The opening scene takes place in Dodger Stadium at 1000 Elysian Park Avenue in Los Angeles.

Scotty's new home is at 1556 South 2000 East in Salt Lake City.

Benny Rodriguez lives across the street at 1571 South 2000 East.

The boys pick up baseballs and check out girls at the iconic but now closed Vincent Drug at 7696 North Main Street in Midvale, Utah.

The sandlot was filmed in an empty field that still exists and is visible from approximately 1388 Glenrose Drive in Salt Lake City. The property was returned to its original condition after filming, and sat vacant for twenty years. For the 20th Anniversary of the film in 2013, a replica of the actual baseball field from the film was reconstructed on the spot and designated the first historical film location in Utah's history.
