All the Right Moves (1983)

High school football star Stefan Djordjevic (Tom Cruise) dreams of winning a scholarship to an engineering school so he can leave his tiny hometown, where his only future is the steel mill. The only thing standing in his way is his demanding coach (Craig T. Nelson). Set in rural Pennsylvania, the film takes place mostly in the town of Johnstown, PA.

The "American Pipe & Steel Company" where Stefan's father and brother work was the historic Cambria Iron Works in Johnstown, PA. Founded in 1852, the mill officially closed down in 1992 and much of the plant was demolished. A few of the original buildings still remain. The gate they are seen leaving after work is located at the corner of Main Street & Bridge Street.

"Ampipe High School" in the film was the former Johnstown High School on Somerset Street, which was torn down shortly after filming.

The practice field was located on the current site of the baseball field behind Greater Johnstown High School at 222 Central Avenue.

As they run around the track, you can see a baseball field in the background. This is the current location of the school's football stadium.

The pep rally scenes were filmed in the gymnasium of the old Johnstown High School.

As they take the bus to Walnut Heights, they are seen descending a hill on Eisenhower Boulevard near Richland Town Center.

The building seen briefly as "Walnut Heights High School" is actually the Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center, seen from the corner of Vo Tech Drive & Schoolhouse Road.

The Walnut Heights locker room scenes were apparently a set built in the old Johnstown High School building.

The football game against Walnut Heights was filmed in Point Stadium in downtown Johnstown, which was torn down in 2005 and replaced with a brand-new $8 million stadium.

After the game, Nickerson (Nelson) won't let Stefan ride the bus, so he catches a ride in a pickup truck. This was filmed outside Westmont Hilltop Middle School at 827 Diamond Boulevard.

Coach Nickerson lives on Erickson Drive near Devon Drive in Richland.

The scene where Lisa (Lea Thompson) talks to Mrs. Nickerson on the hill appears to be on Main Street above the entrance to the mill.

Nickerson confronts Stefan as he turns the corner off Market Street onto Locust Street in downtown Johnstown.

Stefan runs away down Locust Street toward Franklin Street United Methodist Church.

The final scene of the film takes place at the corner of Main Street & Bridge Street, at the gate for the old steel mill. Many of the homes in this shot are now gone.
