Pretty In Pink (1986)

This John Hughes classic follows high-schooler Andie Walsh (Molly Ringwald) as she tries to find the perfect date for prom. She falls for "richie" Blane (Andrew McCarthy) but hopes he can see past the fact that she comes from the other side of the tracks (literally). Jon Cryer stars as her oddball childhood friend Duckie, who can't help but fight for her best interests.This familiar story takes place (like many other Hughes films) in suburban Chicago, but was actually filmed in Los Angeles. 

The opening shot follows a street sweeper to Andie's house at 1010 Hope Street in Pasadena. As a side-note, the "Michael Myers" house from Halloween is just a block from here, giving you the perfect two-fer!

"Meadowbrook High School" is actually John Marshall High School at 3939 Tracy Street, which has been featured in countless film productions.

Interior school scenes were done at  Burroughs Middle School at 600 South McCadden Place in Hancock Park.

One of the iconic locations in the film is "Trax" - the record store where Andie works with her friend Iona (Annie Potts). This is now Cult at 1460 Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. The "Oakmont" shopping center across the street has been renovated and looks much different now. 

The music club where "Dice Man" (Andrew Dice Clay) works as a bouncer was filmed at 4067 Pico Blvd.

Blane's yuppie friend Steff (James Spader) hosts a house party at his parent's place at 366 South June Street in Hancock Park. This is also the "dream house" that she drives by with Duckie earlier. 

Duckie (actually BMX stunt rider Pat Romano) follows Andie into the entrance to Old Chinatown off North Hill Street in Los Angeles (Mei Ling Way & Gin Ling Way). It looks quite a bit different today. The tall pagoda visible above the wall is at 950 Mei Ling Way.

The "Chestnut Hills Hunt Club" was filmed at the Jim Rogers Barn at Will Rogers State Park. 

The prom takes place in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel at 506 South Grand Avenue. The hallway where Andie enters and spots Duckie was the South Galleria, just across the hall from the ballroom. 

Supposedly the final reshot ending was created entirely on a soundstage, likely Stage 16 at Paramount Studios.
