Roller Boogie (1979)
Made at the height of the disco craze (and released only days away from 1980), this movie stars Linda Blair as Terry, a spoiled California teenager who finds fun and a new group of friends at the local roller disco. She also meets expert "jammer" Bobby (Jim Bray) and it isn't long before they fall in love. Together they must join the local skaters to save their favorite roller rink before it is bought up by greedy land developers. The entire film takes place around Venice, CA.
The film opens with Phones (Stoney Jackson) meeting Bobby outside his apartment at 23 Windward Avenue, and they skate down Windward Avenue toward the beach.
Bobby leads the other skaters down Ocean Front Walk past Hoppy (James Van Patten) at the Sidewalk Cafe at 1401 Ocean Front Walk.
The line of skaters make their way down the bike path through Venice Beach Park. This exact area was seen later in many 80s movies, most notably Thrashin' and Breakin'.
