Footloose (1984)
The premise of this film is simple: big city boy comes to a small town where music and dancing have been banned. What happens next is feel-good 80s movie history... Kevin Bacon stars as Ren McCormack alongside Lori Singer, John Lithgow, and Chris Penn. The film takes place in the fictional town of Bomont, but was shot entirely in the beautiful area surrounding Provo, Utah.
An opening shot of the town looks east down W 400 N under the Interstate 15 overpass from N 500 W in Payson, UT.
The church where Reverend Moore (John Lithgow) preaches the evils of dancing is Community Presbyterian Church at 75 North 100 East in American Fork, UT.
The Reverend's house was located across the street from the church, and has since been demolished and replaced with an Albertson's.
The harrowing car chase at the start of the film was shot on W 12000 S west of Payson between Interstate 15 and Highway 141 to the west. This point marks where Ariel (Singer) and friends first crossed the railroad tracks. The road has since been re-routed to take a wider turn here.

The "Hi-Spot" drive-in was located at 197 North 500 West in Provo, UT. Operating as a flower shop for a number of years, it has since been torn down and replaced with a Checkers Auto Parts.
High School scenes were filmed at Payson High School at 1050 South Main Street in Payson. The entrance seen is from the south side.
Ren fills up his car at what is now a Tesoro station at the corner of Highway 198 & West 700 South in Payson.

Lehi Roller Mills, where Ren works in the film, is located at East Main Street & North 7350 West in Lehi, UT. In operation since 1906, they continue to operate today and the building looks much the same as it did in the film. The surrounding area has grown considerably and is much more developed today.

The tractor showdown scene was filmed along the canal that runs from Payton to Salem. The house at approximately 1963 Goosenest Drive can be seen in the background in some shots. Snow-capped Santaquin Peak can be seen in the distance.
