Pale Rider (1985)

One of Clint Eastwood's later westerns focused on a preacher with a mysterious past who comes to the aid of a peaceful mining camp being bullied by a greedy mining company. The film makes use of beautiful natural scenery in Idaho and California to recreate the landscape of the Old West.

The "Carbon City" mining camp was a set built along Smiley Creek near the Vienna Mine northwest of Ketchum, ID.

The LaHood townsite was built specially for the film in a remote area of the Sawtooth National Forest just north of Ketchum.

The train station built for the film was located south of Jamestown, CA. The Sierra Railway used in the film has been dubbed "The Movie Railroad" for its numerous uses in TV and film productions. The station set was left standing after filming and was later reused for Back to the Future Part III before lost in a wildfire.

The town of "Yuba City" seen briefly in the film (where Stockburn resides as marshal) was actually Columbia City Historic Park outside Columbia, CA.
