High School USA (1983)

This TV movie (actually a pilot for a series) starred a huge cast of then-unknown actors who went on to huge fame later in the 80s. Michael J. Fox stars as the average high-schooler JJ Manners who must compete with his preppie rival Beau Middleton (Anthony Edwards) for the affections of the lovely Beth Franklin (Nancy McKeon). Radical hijinks ensue, including a destructive robot and more than one wild car race. Set in fictional Excelsior High School, Missouri it was clearly filmed in Los Angeles.

High school scenes were filmed at the actual Excelsior High School in Norwalk, Los Angeles - at 15711 Pioneer Boulevard. The school closed in 1981 and today the campus is used for Norwalk Adult School. It was also used for Grease 2.

JJ and his buddies (including Crispin Glover, who played Michael J. Fox's dad in Back to the Future) hang out at what was Tony's Diner at 4950 Hollywood Boulevard. The restaurant still remains today as Taron Bakery.
