Silver Bullet (1985)

This classic 80s werewolf movie is based on a Stephen King novel about a paralytic boy (Corey Haim) with a super sweet wheelchair who discovers the idyllic town in which he lives is being terrorized by a werewolf. The fictional town of Tarker's Mill was actually shot in Burgaw and Wilmington, NC.

Early scenes where townspeople gather for the Tarker's Mill Festival were shot in the courthouse square in Burgaw. The courthouse is seen several times as the location of the Sheriff's office in the film.

Late in the film, Jane (Megan Follows), Marty, and Uncle Red (Gary Busey) have a talk in the square.

All scenes in town were shot along West Freemont Street in Burgaw.

The lake where Marty (Haim) has a run in with the werewolf on a bridge is Greenfield Lake in Wilmington. This is also where Marty and his friend fly kites and later where the search party seeks out the werewolf.

Later in the film, Uncle Red, Marty and Jane have a talk on a park bench on the lake.
