Freaks and Geeks (1999)

This excellent series created by Paul Feig and Judd Apatow starred many up-and-coming actors and was set in a small Michigan town in the early 80's. In actuality, the show was shot in the late 90's around Santa Clarita, CA. It is extremely hard to find any information regarding where the show was filmed online, so I've done a lot of research here. Enjoy!

We are first introduced to the "freaks" at one of their favorite hang-outs, under Mckinley High's football field bleachers. In real life, this is located between the football and basebell field of William S. Hart High School at 24825 Newhall Avenue in Santa Clarita. This is the oldest high school in Santa Clarita Valley and the school that Saved By The Bell's Mark-Paul Gosselaar attended in real life. Next, we see the "geeks" emerge from behind the bathroom/concession building directly behind the bleachers.

The Weir house where Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) & Sam (John Francis Daley) live is located at 24219 Heritage Lane in Newhall. This neighborhood was used for much of the exterior filming on the show.

*Please be respectful of homeowners when visiting private locations*

In the pilot, Bill (Martin Starr) and Neal (Samm Levine) are seen walking down the far south end of Cross Street.

I believe most of the school scenes were filmed at Ulysses S. Grant High School at 13000 Oxnard Street in Valley Glen.

Nick Andopolis (Jason Segel) lives at 23121 Oakbridge Lane in Newhall.

In "Beers and Weirs" we see our trio attempt to score booze for the party at Bonanza Liquor Market at 24301 Main Street in Newhall.

Next, we see the boys running home with the keg down the west side of Valley Street near Alamos Lane in Newhall.

In the opening of "Tricks and Treats" we see Lindsay waiting at the bus stop at the corner of Maple Street and Cross Street in Newhall.

The boys are seen trick or treating at 23205 Maple Street. This is directly across the street from the above location.

While smashing mailboxes, Lindsay and gang pass by Sam and the boys in costume along Maple Street near Colwyn Avenue.

First, the boys get beat up and have their candy stolen by Alan (Chauncey Leopardi) and gang. Right as things can't seem to get worse for Sam, he gets egged by his sister at 24335 Janel Avenue.

In I'm With The Band" the boys sit and eat popsicles at approx. 24356 Janel Avenue and watch as Lindsay is hauled into #24349 across the street.

In "I'm With The Band" Alan rolls up on the boys at approx. 24314 Janel Avenue.

The baseball scenes in "The Diary" were filmed at the field to the south of Ulysses S. Grant High School (actually part of Los Angeles Valley College) in Van Nuys. Monarch Stadium can be seen in the background of several shots. Sadly, this baseball field no longer exists.

The go kart track in "Dead Dogs & Gym Teachers" was Speed Zone at 17871 Castleton Street in City of Industry. This was also seen in Clerks II.

In "Noshing & Moshing," Nick & Ken (Seth Rogen) are sitting in front of 24406 Apple Street when Daniel pulls onto Apple Street from Highland Glen Drive to pick them up.

The laser show in "The Garage Door" was likely filmed in the Laserium of the Griffith Park Observatory at 2800 East Observatory Road in Griffith Park.

In "Dead Dogs and Gym Teachers" Lindsay is hanging out with the other freaks when Millie's mom (Meagen Fay) shows up. This was filmed at the end of Janel Avenue in Newhall.

In "Discos and Dragons," the bowling alley scenes take place at Valencia Lanes, 23700 Lyons Avenue, in Newhall.

The bus station where Lindsay says her goodbyes at the end of the series is now Labor Ready at 24225 Main Street in Newhall, CA.

The parking lot where Lindsay meets Kim after getting off the bus in "Discos & Dragons" is at the corner of 6th Street & Newhall Avenue in Newhall (literally around the corner from the bus station she left from).

In the final shot of the series, Lindsay rides off with Kim down Newhall Avenue after turning off 6th Street in Newhall.
