License to Drive (1988)

One of my all-time eighties favorites, this film follows the wacky night on the town teenager Les Anderson (Corey Haim) has with his friends after taking his driver's test. Problem is, he didn't actually pass the test. The movie follows their adventures all over Los Angeles

The high school in the film where Les spots Mercedes (Heather Graham) waiting out front, and hitches a ride on his pal Dean's (Corey Feldman) bike is Walter Reed Jr. High at 4525 Irvine Avenue in Studio City.

Les and Dean scream down a hill on Dean's bike past 10501 Wyton Drive near the UCLA campus.

Les is dropped off at his house at nearby 536 Dalehurst Avenue.

Before they get to the big party, Dean makes his mom drop him and Les off at the corner of North Faring Road and Parkwood Drive in Holmby Hills.

They show up to Debbi's birthday party nearby at 340 North Faring Road.

After Les' dad (Richard Marsur) embarrasses him in front of Mercedes, he lets Les drive the car at the corner of Warner Avenue and Loring Avenue.

Les practices bringing the car to a stop at Lomond Avenue and Dalehurst Avenue.

From here, Les spots Mercedes walking between 383 and 393 Dalehurst Avenue.

Les picks up Mercedes in front of 435 Dalehurst...

...while his dad is left holding diapers at the street corner.

Les takes his exam and begins the driving test at the actual Los Angeles DMV at 3615 South Hope Street.

Les picks up Mercedes at her house at 485 Loring Avenue.

The El Rey Club was actually the El Rey Theater at 5515 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. This was also in Night of the Comet.

Dean's house is at 6313 Riggs Place near Pepperdine University.

The awesome drive-in restaurant called Archie's in this movie, which also appeared in numerous other 80s movies was Johnny's Broiler at 7447 Firestone Boulevard in Downey, CA. In 2007, it was nearly completely demolished but has since been rebuilt in exacting detail and reopened in 2009. Read more about the history of this famous film location at Iamnotastalker.

The checkpoint where the cop interrogates the boys was on South Santa Fe Avenue in Los Angeles at the corner of Palmetto Street. Acme Wiping Materials at 1327 Palmetto Street is visible behind them.

The drunk man makes off with Les' car on South Santa Fe Avenue north of Palmetto Street and drives off toward the 4th Street Bridge.

Les gets stuck between the two cars while driving over the 6th Street Bridge (Whittier Boulevard) in Los Angeles.

On their way to the hospital, Les & family drive down San Vicente Boulevard in Westwood. They pass by the Brentview Medical building at 11633 San Vicente Boulevard.

I believe the cafe Les crashes through while driving backwards is now the Pecorino Restaurant at 11604 San Vicente Boulevard.

Les delivers his mom to "Elmdale Memorial Hospital" - which is actually Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel at 10500 Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood. The beam crashes down on the car and they enter on the Warner Avenue side.

The final shot of the film shows Les & Mercedes driving off west down Strathmore Drive through the intersection with Warner Avenue (right down the street from Les' house).
