Ren's dance montage takes place in the old United States Steel Geneva Works in Orem, UT. Opened in 1944 to help with the war effort, the immense plant was shut down in 1987 and was recently torn down.

On the way to the car wash, Willard (Penn) rides his bike south on N 100 W just past Burdick Lumber & Hardware (now Art & Frame Wholesale) at the intersection with W 100 N in Payson.
Ren and Willard wash Ren's VW Beetle at the now-demolished Sudsie's Car Wash at the corner of West Utah Avenue & North 100 West in Payson.

The bar scene was filmed at the Silver Spur Bar (now Archafalaya nightclub) at 210 West Center Street in Provo.
This seen was also filmed at the Tesoro gas station location already mentioned (which was a 7-11).
At the beginning of Willard's dancing scene, he and Ren are at the bleachers on the east side of the football field at Payson High School. They have since been replaced with newer ones.

This scene between Ariel and Ren was on the railroad tracks leading up to the Geneva Steel plant. All of this is gone now.
Reverend Moore fears that things have gotten a little out of control when he discovers an impromptu book burning in the central courtyard of Springville High School at 1205 East 900 South in Springville, UT.
The site of the famous dance scene in the flour mill was originally shot in a replica set built in Osmond Studios at 1240 East 800 North in Orem. After initial test screenings, the scene was later re-shot somewhere in a studio in Los Angeles.
