This pre-Ferris Bueller flick shot Matthew Broderick to fame and includes other 80s regulars Ally Sheedy & Dabney Coleman (with smaller roles for James Tolkan, Michael Madsen & John Spencer). Set in a variety of locales, it was mainly shot around Washington & Los Angeles.

The gates & exterior entrance tunnel of the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex were built on an old gravel pit by Goodell Creek, NW of Newhalem, WA (48.678522, -121.269772).

The interior command center complex was a combination of sets & real locations, based on facilities such as March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA. One of the buildings there served as a filming location for some of the interior shots (33.904376, -117.251474 ?).It is likely that actual interiors of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado were used for some of the shots as well.

A quick establishing shot of Seattle, taken from Alki Beach is shown (47.593137, -122.382186).

The "20 Grand Palace" was filmed at 20000 Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, CA (thanks to Matt L.). It is now Jackeez and Nicolz Creative Clothing At A Discount.

"Snohomish High School" in WarGames is NOT the real one in Washington State, but actually El Segundo High School in El Segundo, CA (33.924769, -118.415489). This same school was also recently used in Superbad.

David's house was at 333 S. Arden Blvd. in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles (34.067958, -118.326120). This one was not very easy to find!

David & Jennifer ride past the Hughes Penthouse Theater (47.660752, -122.308211) on the UW campus.

The exterior of the computer building is Kincaid Hall at UW (47.652637, -122.310641).

The 7-11 parking lot at 41440 Big Bear Blvd. in Big Bear Lake, CA is where the FBI busted David. However, the building and surrounding area look much different today. Falken's house on the lake was also supposedly filmed on Big Bear Lake.

David & Jennifer run to the ferry terminal to catch the Anderson Island Ferry in Steilacoom, WA. They run under the railroad bridge from the parking lot (47.172207, -122.602916).

The gas station where David makes a call from a phone booth is at the Swede Heaven Rd. intersection off Hwy 530 just outside of Darrington, WA. The phone booth was across the highway from the gas station in the large gravel parking lot. The gas station itself of course has been completely replaced, but Whitehorse Mountain still looms in the background (48.268815, -121.706656).
