Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1987)

The first of the films chronicling the adventures of the time-traveling bonehead rockers was set in San Dimas, CA but actually filmed in and around Phoenix & Scottsdale, Arizona. Sadly, a search for locations from this film is one big disappointment after another. Very few of the locations still remain and those that do are hardly recognizable.

Bill's house was supposedly filmed at 112 West Kaler Street in Phoenix, although it's hardly recognizable today.

San Dimas High School was filmed at Coronado High School at 7501 East Virginia Avenue in Scottsdale. However, it has been drastically remodeled since and no longer resembles the version seen in the film. Interior classroom scenes were filmed at East High School at 515 North 48th Street in Phoenix. However, this school has been town down and replaced with a DirecTV warehouse.

Ted's house was filmed at 1841 East Berridge Lane, Maricopa, Phoenix. The front of the house has been added onto so it looks much different now.

One of the few locations to remain untouched, the Circle K where Rufus sends them back in time is at 1010 West Southern Avenue in Tempe, AZ.

The old west scenes were apparently filmed on the backlot of Carefree Studios (formerly Southwestern Studios) in Carefree, AZ. The scenes in the future were also sets filmed on the stages here. I believe it was located somewhere on Scottsdale Road. Unfortunately, the entire studio was torn down in 1999 and replaced with newer development.

The "Zyggie Piggy" was filmed at Chuck E. Cheese at 8039 North 35th Avenue in Phoenix.

The scenes of Napoleon at the bowling alley were filmed at AMF Tempe Village Lanes at 4407 South Rural Road in Tempe.

I believe the baseball field where they recruit Ted's brother to watch Napoleon was on the south end of Hollis Park by Hudson Elementary School in Tempe.

The waterslide park was a combination of Golfland-Sunsplash at 155 West Hampton Avenue in Mesa and Raging Waters in San Dimas, CA. The shots at the top of the slide were at Sunsplash because you can see the water channel & Interstate 60 in the background.

The police station where Ted's father works was at 7328 East 2nd Street in Scottsdale. Alas, the building is no more and has been replaced with a brand new one. The building to the left of it in this shot still stands however.

Mall scenes were filmed at the Metrocenter Mall at 9617 North Metro Parkway in Phoenix. Many of the stores in the film & the ice rink are now gone.
