Iron Eagle (1985)

This Top Gun follow-up stars Jason Gedrick as Doug Masters, son of an air force pilot who is captured by a radical Middle Eastern state. When nobody takes action to save him before his execution, Doug teams up with Colonel "Chappy" Sinclair (Louis Gossett, Jr.) to mount a rescue.

The fictional "Beecher Air Force Base" was actually Camarillo Airport NW of Los Angeles. The opening scenes take place around the airport, formerly known as Oxnard Air Force Base. Doug gets in his car on Skyway Drive near Eubanks Street and heads east toward the gate.

Much like Maverick on his motorcycle, Doug is next shown riding along the runway alongside a jet. This was likely filmed on Aviation Drive on the southwest end of the airport.

Doug drives like a maniac on Airport Way, with the Phoenix School behind him.

The security gate Doug drives through was on Airport Way where it meets West Pleasant Valley Road (which he turns onto).

The fictional town of "Alta Vista" is actually Fillmore, CA. Doug drives down Central Avenue past Central Park.

The Carlton's Drive In where Doug and his buddies run into Knotcher (Michael Bowen) has been torn down and is now Starbucks at 650 Ventura Street in Fillmore.

The start and end of the race sequence were filmed off of Knox Avenue at Rosamund Skypark in Rosamund, CA. The hangar seen in the background still stands.

Doug's graduation was shot in the stands of the football field at Fillmore High School at 555 Central Avenue. The dance was likely filmed in the gym here too.

The airport security gate was filmed near the current Civil Air Patrol buildings at 55 Durley Avenue at Camarillo Airport.
