TRON (1982)

This film was revolutionary for its use of computer-generated special effects, though much of the film was shot using traditional special effects methods. Here is a very technical article about how the film's music and special effects were created :

As for the film locations, the film was shot throughout the Los Angeles area, primarily on stages at Walt Disney Studios.

Scenes inside the "ENCOM" laboratory were filmed in the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at 7000 East Avenue, Livermore, CA. This was the first (and only?) film to shoot in the facility.

Exterior shots of "Flynn's Arcade" were done at the Hull Building at 9543 Culver Blvd. in Culver City, CA. By the way, in TRON: Legacy it appears they returned here but in fact the building and entire street were replicated in a parking lot at Canada Motion Picture Park in Vancouver.

The majority of the film's scenes were shot in stages in Walt Disney Studios at 500 South Buena Vista Street in Burbank. Actors in costume were shot against black screens and the "sets" were added later.

Exteriors of the ENCOM building were filmed at the AT&T Center at 1150 South Olive Street in Los Angeles.
