Gleaming the Cube (1989)
Brian Kelly (Christian Slater) is a high school kid and avid skateboarder. When his adopted Vietnamese brother is killed when he finds out too much about a weapons smuggling operation, Brian seeks out the truth with the help of a cop (Steven Bauer) and his skateboarding friends. Filmed around Los Angeles with the help of several famous skateboarders, this movie features many memorable stunt sequences.
The opening scene was filmed at John Wayne Airport (Orange County Airport) at 18601 Airport Way in Santa Ana, CA. The terminal has since been completely remodeled and looks unrecognizable from the film's version.
Scenes at school were filmed at Woodbridge High School at 2 Meadowbrook in Irvine, CA.
Vinh (Art Chudabala) works at a video shop in Little Saigon off Bolsa Avenue in Westminster, CA. When he goes missing, Brian comes here to look for him. The video store was located on the west side of the shopping area but the building has since been remodeled and looks much different now.

The hotel where Vinh is tortured and killed was Stovall's Cosmic Age Lodge at 1110 West Katella Avenue in Anaheim (next to Disneyland). It has since been remodeled into Best Western's Stovales Inn, but the building still remains.
