Evaluating Cookie Recipes

Four Types of Cookies

Did you ever think of different cookies tasting different? I made four different types of cookies. I made normal chocolate chip cookies, butterless chocolate chip, eggless chocolate chip and gluten free chocolate chip. I predicted that most people would like the normal cookie better. I chose to do this because I always wondered if cookies taste different without eggs or butter or if it was gluten free.

This year I decided to make the cookies on my own. The cookies we made were made in my kitchen. It was important to have someone watching me even though I wanted to do it by myself because you are working with a hot oven. The first thing I did was bought all the ingredients to make the cookies, and each pan took about 8 to 10 minutes. I made one sheet of cookies at a time. After the cookies cooled, I put them in a container and labeled which container was which. I made sure everyone I was going to test signed the paper form, so I would have their signature to test them. After I tested the first person, I did the same to each person after that. I had my computer next to me to type things down so I would know what cookie was better.

This testing took a little longer than last year and the year before did, but there was still a lot of work that needed to be done in this experiment. After I tested the first few people, I noticed that it was hard for them to choose out of the eggless cookie and the butterless cookie. One of my family members couldn't tell the difference between the eggless and butterless, and they told me that both of those cookies tasted the same.

My hypothesis was correct. I said that most people would have chosen the normal chocolate chip cookie as the best cookie. I thought that most of the people would have most trouble telling the difference between the butterless and eggless cookie. There are a few ways that I could improve my Science Fair project. One way I could make better would be maybe making different cookies, maybe not a chocolate chip cookie but a sugar cookie. My second thing that I could do better is maybe use different mixers or different flours.
