Question:How Long Will Flowers Last?

Hypothesis: I think that the flower with the straight cut in water will last the longest.

Procedure:Step 1:First you have to cut the flower straight on the bottom and put in water.

Step 2:You cut a flower on an angled cut and put it in water.

Step 3:You cut another flower straight at the bottom and put it in soda.

Step 4:You cut your last flower on an angle, and put in soda.

Abstract: Many people are concerned about how long flowers last. My hypothesis is that I thought that the regular cut in water would look the best because most people just put them in water and they last a good amount of time. I chose this topic because I wanted to experiment with living things, such as plants. What I did for my experiment is put one regular cut flower in water and in soda. I put an angled cut flower in water and in soda as well. 2 weeks has has passed and here are my results. My first week went like this. My regular cut flower in water was alive and very healthy. The angled one started to lose color and turned brown. The regular cut one in soda was started drooping and lost color as well. The angled cut flower in soda was drying but still stood. One week has passed and the flowers are doing great. The regular cut flower in water finally bloomed and turned a light pink. The angled cut flower in water started bending over and color was loosing more. The regular cut flower in soda started drooping even more. The last flower was withering and turning grey-ish. The best flower that lasted the longest was the regular cut flower in water. My hypothesis was correct because according to my experience, the regular cut flower in water was the best. I recommend to anyone who has flower to cut the flower straight across, than to cut it on an angle.
