Abstract -

Gluten or Gluten Free?

For my Science fair I decided to do a taste test on whether people like the gluten or free foods better, because they taste better. I was interested in this because lots of people just ignore gluten free foods if they can. People could improve their health state by lessing their intake of gluten. My hypothesis was that the people I tested would like the gluten foods better, because gluten food usually tastes better than the gluten free alternatives.

I started by blindfolding my testers and sitting them at the table. Then we gave the starting one which was Gluten Free which we labeled as one. We let them eat it and wrote down what they thought of that food. Next we tested the next food labeled as two and wrote down what they thought of it. Lastly we asked which they enjoy more of that snack and repeated this with several different foods.

From what we tested so far, we observed most of the testers liked the gluten better. ⅔ of the testers liked the gluten better. With the pretzels two people liked the gluten snack better, while the last person liked the gluten free ones. The same data usually with the others. For example 75% of the people liked the gluten better and only 25% liked the gluten free.

I learned even though the gluten ones are less healthy for you more people enjoy them. Yes, my hypothesis was correct. Since more people willing by gluten foods it would make more sense. If i tested more people it would have been more accurate, since I only tested 3 people my testing results were affected by small comparison. Overall, more people enjoy gluten.

Procedure

    1. Go to the store and pick 2 similar food one gluten and the other gluten free

    2. Gather my people

    3. Sit each down blindfolded and see which food they like best

    4. Tell them what the food is

    5. Give them each version of the food and pick one 1-5

    6. Record Data

    7. Compare data

Hypothesis:

My Hypothesis is that my testers will like the Gluten Foods rather than the Gluten Free foods.

Conclusion:

After recording my data I found my hypothesis was correct. My conclusion is that people generally like the taste of gluten better than non Gluten Foods.
