Rainbow Fire

Abstract

My topic is Fire. My problem is what chemicals will change the color of the flame. I believe that most of the chemicals will change the color of the flame because some chemicals have different materials that change the color of the flame. I chose to do this topic because it seemed like a lot of fun.

I got a Bunsen burner and set it up next I got a liter and the chemicals then I got a long thin metal rod and ran it under water after that I lit the Bunsen burner after I turned it when I activated the gas on with the litter I dipped the rod in the chemical and put it in the flame and observed what happened then I repeated this until all the chemicals were tested.

After I was done testing I got these results. When I tried Strontium chloride I got red. when I tried sodium chloride I got yellow. when potassium chloride I got purple. The last one I tried was Boronic Acid and I got green.

I have no idea if my hypothesis was right most of the chemicals did work though. learned nothing at all from doing this time consuming project nothing at all. i did my experiment like three times and I could have accidentally mixed the chemicals I have no idea at all if I did anything wrong but I probably did do something.
