Which Brand of Washable Marker is the Most Effective?
For my science fair project I decided to do, “Which Brand of Washable Marker is the Most Effective”. I tested four brands of marker, Crayola, Craz-art, Rose art, Mr. Sketch. I wanted to find out which brand would be the most effective and washed off the easiest. My hypothesis was that Crayola would be the most washable because it is a popular brand and I have used the brand before. I chose this topic because I love art. The topic was interesting to me.
For my experiment I had to cut 12 pieces of white t-shirt from Michaels. I bought the 4 brands, Crayola, Craz-art, Rose art, and Mr Sketch. I put one thick line of each brand on their own separate t-shirt. I used the color blue and repeated the experiment 3 times. I washed the t-shirts with “Tide” and I let them air dry. I examined the shirts and rated each brand 1-10. I made 3 charts for each time I did the experiment and found the averages for each brand.
My information turned out accurate. I found an average rating for each number. When I got all my ratings I made 3 charts for each time I did the experiment and found all of the averages. I decided to make a scale 1-10 and rated each brand. I collected all the data. These were the averages, Crayola- 10, Craz-art- 8.3, Rose art- 6, Mr Sketch- 1.3.
In conclusion my experiment was great! I repeated the steps 3 times and I made all the charts and scales for my brands. I learned that all marker brands can’t be trusted when doing this experiment. Mr. Sketch was terrible. You could see that blue stain. Rose art was better but still awful. Craz-art was ok. There was a small fade of blue. And last but not least, the winner, Crayola. There was not stain at all and there was just plain white t-shirt. My hypothesis was correct. I predicted that Crayola would be the most effective, it was. My experiment was accurate because I used the same amount of laundry detergent, “Tide”, and let them all air dry. I put one think line on each shirt too. I think I could improve my experiment by testing it more times. I liked doing my experiment.
