Elijah's Science Fair project Milk of Magnesia

Question:How Milk of Magnesia helps in your stomach

Hypothesis

My hypothesis is that your acid in your stomach will rapidly change colors. The vinegar is the acids in your stomach and the Milk of Magnesia is the medicine. The Universal Indicator will help it change the colors. The other is to test the Ph. Ph means to measure the acidity or basically of a solution.

Procedure

1.get a cup with vinegar in it

2.get another cup with a little bit of Milk of Magnesia

3.get a dropper

4.use the dropper to squeeze the Milk of Magnesia

5.put one drop of Milk of Magnesia into the cup of vinegar

6.use the dropper to spin the Milk of Magnesia with the vinegar

7.use Ph to measure the acidity.

8.Try it more than 5 times just to make sure

Conclusion:

My conclusion is that I want to help people and make sure what’s goes on in your stomach plus how the color changes and how it reacts with the acids in your stomach. The data I collected was related to my conclusion because it measures the acidity which also stand for Ph. Also the drops of Milk of Magnesia you put in. My hypothesis is correct because it rapidly changes colors such as blue, pink, and white. Also Ph and the drops of Milk of Magnesia you put in. and the cup of vinegar. This experiment will become accurate for me because I tried after school for two months and it worked perfectly. Plus the data I collected in the lab.

Problem:

The reason why I’m doing this experiment is because I want to help people and let them know it’s cool what goes on in your stomach.

Abstract:

One day, a few months ago, I had a bad stomach ache and I needed medicine. I went to Walmart, went to the medicine aisle and searched until I found Milk of Magnesia. The good thing about my stomach ache was that it led me to a science fair project to test what goes on in your stomach.

What I’m trying to figure out is how Milk of Magnesia helps and what it looks like in your stomach. My hypothesis is that your acids in your stomach will rapidly change colors. The vinegar is the acids in your stomach and the Milk of Magnesia is the medicine. The Universal Indicator will help it shows change. The colors and Ph means to measure the acidity or basicity of a solution.

The first step in my experiment is to put half a cup of vinegar in a cup. Then a little bit of Milk of Magnesia into a cup as well. Then test it with the Ph and it tests the acidity in your stomach.

The data I collected was all mixed up because of the vinegar. I purchased two kinds of vinegar from two different stores. The first test I got with Ph was about 3.0-4.2. All the steps were the same. The average was about 1.6-3.825.

I learned in this experiment that not all medicine is bad to take and try new things that might help you. This experiment helped me know what goes on in your stomach. My hypothesis was correct that the acid in your stomach does rapidly change colors. The way I can improve this experiment is try different ways to test the acid in your stomach. It can help make our lives better if you know what goes on in your stomach.
