Do Smells Affect Memories?

Holly Karavanas

For my project I am testing people to see if they will remember things better if they have a scent to remember it by.

My hypothesis was that they would help your memory and increase how well you remember.

First I set up some tests(93873652/ajcdnf/ect.)and I put the smells in small cups. Then I got Ani and Johnny, my brother to do the tests with and without the smells in front of them. I graphed what the said and wrote them as ratios. I averaged the correct answers and graphed them.

I was amazed to see that the averages were only 6% away from each other. Though the 6% was close I still say that I was right and that the smell did help people remember even if it was only 6%.

I feel like if I was to make my project better I would get more test subjects and more smells. I WILL be entering the Stockton Science Fair
