What liquid can dissolve a tablet the fastest

Question: What liquid can dissolve a tablet the fastest.

Hypothesis: I believe that soda will dissolve the fastest because it contains carbonation that will allow the tablet to break down.

Procedure: I will be testing what liquid can dissolve a tablet the fastest. 1. The first step that I have to do for my experiment is to gather all of my materials, such as dixie cups, the liquids that I will use, and M&Ms (TABLET) 2. I will use one color at a time with all of the liquids that I will be testing with. 3. Then I will have a timer that is on my phone and see how long it take for it to dissolve the color on the M&M. 4. Then I will just repeat the test over again with a different color.

Conclusion: My project was very successful. My hypothesis for this was project was that soda would be the strongest at dissolving, because it has a lot of carbonation. This was correct because when I was observing my data, soda had always been the fastest at dissolving at just 9 minutes. The strongest liquids were soda, orange juice, and lemonade. The weakest liquids were milk, water, and iced tea. There are a few things that I could have changed about my project. First, I could have made sure that all of the M&Ms went into the liquid at the same time. In addition, I could have also been more descriptive of what the M&Ms looked like when they came out of the liquid. By doing this project, I now have an idea of what liquid people should take with their medicine to dissolve it faster.

Abstract: One day I was wondering how long it took for a medicine to start working. I decided that would be a great topic for my science fair. For my project I needed M&M’s because I am using them as tablets. For my liquids I used soda, milk, orange juice, iced tea, water, and lemonade. I believe that soda would be the most effective liquid when I put in M&M’s in it.

I poured equal amounts of each liquid into cups. An M & M was placed in each cup. I watched and waited to see how long the M & M would take to dissolve. The dissolving time in each liquid was measured with a stopwatch. I tested each liquid 6 times, on different colored M&M’s.

When I was finished my observations I knew that soda did the most effective after looking at my data log. One day when I was doing my project it took nine minutes for an M&M to dissolve, and when I was observing it I saw it completely brown with faded red that was more like a white color. The next strongest liquid was orange juice that took 11 minutes for it to dissolve. When I did my orange juice the number was usually 11 minutes, 12 minutes, and 13 minutes. When I observed the M&M’s that were in the Orange Juice I saw a dot of red in the middle with white surrounding it and brown covering most of the M&M. The lemonade is another strong liquid with 11 minutes. It was brown with little spots of darker brown. Iced tea was another liquid that I used for my project and took 12 minutes for the coating to fall off with just light brown coloring. Milk was another liquid that I took 11 minutes for the coating to come off. It had all brown with some faded color that had more like a white in it. The last liquid was water with 12 minutes being the highest. When I was observing the M&M’s with water I usually saw the color that was faded into the brown and a light brown.

In conclusion, as you can see this project came out well. My hypothesis was that soda was the strongest, because it has a lot of carbonation. This was correct because while observing my data, it was always soda that was the fastest with 9 minutes being the shortest dissolving time. The strongest liquid was soda, then after that it would be orange juice, then lemonade, then it would be milk, and finally water being the least strongest one. There were a couple of things that I could changed about my project. One thing that I could have changed is to make sure that all of the M&M’s went in at the same time. Another change I could have made, was that I should have been more precise on what the description of the M&Ms. As you can see by doing this experiment, I learned what liquid people should use when taking their medicine and what I should use if I need to take a pill.
