1 How The Moon Affects The Ocean Tides

The project I chose was to see how the moon affects the ocean tides.

My Hypothesis was that the moon would not affect the tides what so ever because they are a far distance from each other.

Procedure

    1. I searched a chart of the moon. Then I went to google sheets to make a graph. There were three separate columns. One had the moon percentage that night. The other had what the day was. Then the last column I put the moon name for the tide that night. I repeated that for twenty (20) days and graphed it

    2. My graph consisted of what the moon did to the tide and their was a different moon name each day. Some days they were repeated once and twice here and there but the rest had there own name. It took me about ten (10) minutes each night to type it in the google sheets and find the name of the Moon and what affected tide that night.

    3. Finally my whole project came to a end. I got all into a Graph and put it in a chart. Then typed my abstract and all that's on the board right now. I have learned that it takes time and is hard work to do projects like this, but it sure was interesting.

Abstract

I wanted to see when the moon affects the ocean tides how does it work and is their a specific name for it. My hypothesis was that the moon would not affect the tides what so ever because they are a far distance from each other. I chose this topic so I could have something challenging and interesting to do.

For our first period of working on it I searched a chart of the moon. Then I went to google sheets to make a graph. There were three separate columns. One had the moon percentage that night. The other had what the day was. Then the last column I put the moon name for the tide that night. I repeated that for twenty (20) days and graphed it.

The graph showed what the moon did to the tide and there was a different tide name each day. Some days they were repeated once and twice here and there but the rest had there own name. It took me about ten (10) minutes each night to type it in the google sheets and find the name of the tide and what affected it that night.

The results of this study proves my hypothesis was incorrect. The tides do actually move from the sun. The moon tries to pull anything on the Earth to bring it closer. The Earth is able to hold everything except water. Since the water is always moving, the Earth can not hold onto it, and the moon is able to pull at it. And their is a specific name for when the moon affects the tides and that is called Lunar Tides. This project was very fun and interesting and I learned that it takes a lot of time and research.

Conclusion

The results of this study proves my hypothesis was incorrect. The tides do actually move from the moon. And their is a specific name for when the moon affects the tides and that is called Lunar Tides. This project was very fun and interesting and I learned that it takes a lot of time and research. If I ever do this project again next time I will start early in the beginning of a month and research it till the next month.
