Problem:

How Fast Can a Dose of Alka Seltzer Tablets Dissolve Under 3 Different Conditions?

Hypothesis:

I thought the tablet will dissolve faster in hot than cold because the inside of your body is hot.

Procedure:

    1. I filled the glasses with hot, warm, and cold water

    2. I made sure there was 4oz. In each cup

    3. I dropped two tablets in and timed how long it took

    4. I tested 3 times

    5. I logged the averages and made a data table and graph with them

Conclusion:

In conclusion, hot water made the dose of Alka Seltzer dissolve the fastest. My hypothesis was correct because it dissolved the fastest in the hot water. Hot water was 304 seconds faster than warm and cold water combined. I could if prove this experiment by using three different kinds of cups each time and testing it more times.

Abstract:

How Fast Can a Dose of Alka Seltzer Tablets Dissolve Under 3 Different Conditions?

My experiment is can a dose of Alka Seltzer tablets dissolve in hot, warm, or cold water the fastest. I thought the tablet will dissolve faster in hot water than warm and cold water because the inside of your body is hot.

I did my experiment by getting hot, warm, and cold water then timing it with my phone. I made sure that they were in the same kind of cup then dropped the doses in at the same time. The temperatures were the same the whole time. I know because I used a thermometer to check the temps. I logged the times on a piece of paper so I would not forget. I filled each cup with 4 ounces of water.

My hot water was 96 degrees fahrenheit, warm water was 80 degrees fahrenheit, and cold water was 62 degrees fahrenheit. For the hot water to dissolve the doses of Alka Seltzer it took 140 seconds. I did my test three times and got these averages. For my warm water to dissolve my doses of Alka Seltzer it took 180 seconds. Lastly, for my cold water it took 264 seconds to dissolve the doses of Alka Seltzer. I had to be careful because I could spill the hot water all over me and burn myself. Also they were in glass cups so I was care full not to drop them.

I learned from this project that sometimes medicine can affect you faster than you think. Sometimes it is slower than you think to. My hypothesis was correct because I said that the dose will dissolve faster in hot water than the cold and warm and it did by by 304 seconds. I went through with lots of error one of my errors was that I forgot to start the stopwatch on my phone. Another one was the doses did not go in at the sametime. I could improve on doing this experiment by putting it in different places and using different kinds or cups for each test.
