1 Paper Towel Test

Question

Which Paper Towel Absorbs The Most Water?

Hypothesis

I think that bounty is going to win because it is the thickest paper towel out of them all

Procedure

    1. Get 4 different kind of paper towels

    2. Get a measuring cup to measure how much water each paper towel absorbs

    3. Get a cup filled with water.

    4. Take one paper towel, measure it, than cut it.

    5. Take one paper towel and soak it in the water

    6. Then squeeze the paper towel you soaked into the water into the measuring cup.

    7. See how much mililiters the one paper towel soaked up

    8. That will determine how much water that one paper towel will absorb.

Repeat numbers 1-6 3 more times for the other 3 paper towels

Conclusion

For this project I did what paper towel absorbed the most water. My hypothesis was right and now me and my family know to go buy bounty. That was my science fair for this year

Abstract

Which Paper Towel Absorb Most Water??

For this science fair project I decided to do which paper towel absorbs the most water. The reason I chose this project is because it seemed interesting. Then me and my family know what kind of paper towels to buy when we go to the store because of this experiment. I thought that bounty was the best one because bounty is more thicker and if it is thicker than every other kind it should absorb the most water.

So let start out how I did this project. First, I got 4 different kind of paper towels from the store. Then we got a bowl filled with water. We took the one paper towel and soaked it in the bowl of water for 10 seconds each. After we did that we took the one paper towel out of the bowl. We squeezed it as hard as we could. Then we measured how much water that one absorbed in a measuring cup after being in the water for 10 seconds.

Then we had to see how many cups or part of a cup it absorbed. We took the water absorbed in cups then converted it into milliliters. Finally we did this same procedure for the other 3 paper towels, and that is how we got our answer.

When we tested the sparkle paper towel and we got ⅛ of a cup. We converted ⅛ into millimeters and got 29.57 milliliters. When we tested bounty we got ⅓ but ⅓ converted into millimeters is 76.86. After bounty we tested tri-fold. For that paper towel we got 1.25 millimeters because we did not get a fraction for that one. Last but not least we did brownie from school. We did not get a fraction for that so we just converted it right into millimeters and got 1.25 milliliters just like tri-fold.

So this project I learned that me and my family should always buy bounty because when we tested all 4 of the different paper towels bounty absorbed the most water. My hypothesis was right because I thought that bounty was going to win because it was the thickest out of them all. Therefore buy BOUNTY no other paper towels. That is what I chose to do for my scince fair this year.
