There was no Coordinating Committee meeting in August.

FAN^FH Coordinating Committee Meeting

September 3, 2014 6:30pm ACC

Committee members attending: C. Ockert, K. Ockert, D. O’Neil, G. Lowe, S.

Gustason, D. Condra, M. Menighen, D. Rudewitz, M. Monto, J. Bolland

Guests: S. Selden, Donna Rocco, Suzanne Mickel

Minutes:

1. Treasurer Report (D. O’Neil): $353.11

a. C. Ockert requested funding for hard copy of the City code (approx.

$50) approved.

b. S. Selden to check to see if the City provides updates

2. Candidate’s Night (C. Ockert): Thursday, October 9th at the ACC,

6:30pm- 8:00pm

a. "Date-night style" rotating table format (five tables) about 15

minutes for each rotation Q&A

b. Promotional: Postcard promotion mailers, post signs in committee

member yards, Hello LO

3. Neighborhood Grant (S. Selden): Neighborhood grant program has

doubled to $50k per year. Signs, art projects, mailings, surveys, other

community building projects. Proposals are due in June of each year.

a. For 2014-15 FAN^FH the grant is $1800 for a mailing of for the

Candidates Night, Neighborhood Survey and for the Annual Meeting.

b. Topics for neighborhood survey will be discussed at next meeting as

well as volunteers to form a sub committee

4. Pre-App Report (C. Ockert):

a. G. Lowe reported on development proposal on First Street off D

Street. Zoned R-0 for high density. Builder is considering options for a

triplex which triggered the neighborhood Minor Development notice.

b. Construction on D Street between State and First Streets of 4

duplexes did not trigger the Minor Development alert to the neighborhood

because of an interpretation of the code concerning duplexes. C. Ockert

presented this issue to the Planning Commission who requested more

information to fix this loophole. Committee approved pursuing a

resolution to the situation so that the neighborhood gets notice for

multiple duplexes as minor developments.

5. Tree Sub-Committee (M. Monto): S. Gustafson will take over as interim

chair, Suzanne Meckel will assist on the committee

a. Permit for a removal at 749 7th Street was withdrawn after active

lawn sign campaign

b. Increase in construction of large homes on the 6,000 SF lots will

trigger many more tree removal situations.

6. Miscellaneous

a. Sunningdale park lot update (C. Ockert): City council had directed

City Manager and attorney to transition the property to a new city park.

Concept is to dedicate the park to William Stafford as a reflection park.

Kim Stafford is standing by for an unveiling and dedication. NRAB and

PRAB strongly approve of the new park. Project is parked at the City

Manager’s desk.

b. Parking Task Force (C. Ockert): Planning commission wanted to take

up the parking chart that was approved a few years ago and present it to

council. This has not happened yet. Task Force wants to re-convene.

Committee wants C. Ockert to ask the Planning Commission to reconvene the

former Parking Task Force that included reps from the Chamber of Commerce

and impacted neighborhoods.

c. Kyra’s Bakery will be moving into the former Kasch’s property on A

Street, nice looking development, local business solution. House next

door will be torn down and re-developed.

d. DRC denied application for Wizer’s development second application

because it did not meet village character requirement or fit into the

compact shopping district requirement. Developer is appealing to the City

Council (Sept 22-24th ).
