Location

Also known as Yuba River Falls, this waterfall drops ~20' into the South Yuba River along Spring Creek. During lower flows, you can get right in front of the waterfall without stepping into the river. From the trail, you can't see the waterfall and need to cross the creek to get to the best viewpoint (unless the South Yuba River is low enough). During summertime heat, this is a favorite cool-off point for many visitors. Also common among some visitors in the summer is not wearing any clothes, so don't be surprised if you spot a full moon during the summer daytime.

Directions

From the CA-20/49 intersection on the northern end of Nevada City, take CA-49 northwest for ~0.1 miles and turn right onto Coyote Street. Follow this for ~0.5 miles and turn right onto North Bloomfield Road. Follow North Bloomfield Road for ~6.3 miles to Edwards Crossing over the South Yuba River. You can park either on the north or south side of the bridge. The trail starts from the north side of the bridge and heads west. After ~0.3 miles the trail intersects with Spring Creek. The best view of the waterfall is from the western side of the creek. If possible, find a suitable place to cross the creek (water shoes are a good idea) and then make your way towards the river. You can also look down on the waterfall from the eastern side of the creek.
