This is a small waterfall, probably somewhere between 20 and 30 feet high, just off of the trail to Susie Lake/Half Moon Lake/Gilmore Lake that straddles the border of the Desolation Wilderness near Fallen Leaf Lake, CA. Access to the top of the waterfall is simple and only a few feet from the trail. The bottom of the waterfall can also be accessed without too much difficulty. I named it after the lake that its creek flows out of. I added "Lower" as a description of where it is along that creek and it may turn out that there is another waterfall upstream of it. The waterfallswest.com website refers to this waterfall as "Far Glen Alpine Falls."Location

Directions

Drive to the Glen Alpine trailhead just southwest of Fallen Leaf Lake, near Lake Tahoe by turning onto Fallen Leaf Rd (~3.1 miles NW of CA-89/US-50 intersection), following it for ~4.8 miles before continuing to the left on Glen Alpine Rd for ~0.7 miles to the trailhead parking area. Follow the trail past Modjeska Falls (~0.6 miles) to the junction with the Grass Lake Trail (~1.6 miles). This waterfall is immediately north of this trail junction. The trail up towards Susie Lake passes close by the top of the waterfall after a switchback.
