Summary: This is a fantastic hike to the crest of the Jewel Basin. There are views in several directions throughout the entire hike, which also means that it is exposed and will be very warm during mid-day in the summer. Nonetheless, the views are worth the effort no matter when you make it. Views include the Flathead Valley, Swan Range, Flathead Lake, Picnic Lakes, Flathead Range, Great Bear Wilderness, Lewis Range, and Glacier National Park. Additionally, you're likely to spot a few mountain goats. This hike should be enjoyable from early summer into early autumn (before the first snow).Distance: 6.2 miles round-tripElevation Gain/Loss: 1,800' totalSeason: June to SeptemberFees & Permits: NoneFinding the Trailhead: 48.16096 N, 113.94784 W (Camp Misery Trailhead).
