Northern Rockies: Days 10-12

Back in the U.S., we took it easy for the next couple of days and hung out at the lake. For dinner on the second night we went to When In Rome in Bigfork. Wow! Amazing food. The location and outside appearance of this restaurant isn't much to brag about, but the food definitely is. We know where we'll be going for dinner the next time we're near Bigfork. Early in the morning of Day 12 we packed the rest of our stuff into our car and headed for home. We stopped in Dillon for lunch before moving on. Only a little way into Idaho, we turned off of the interstate and followed ID-22 and ID-33 to the southwest. The rain started to move in on us and we noticed what looked like a dust storm directly over the interstate to the southeast. Good thing we left the interstate. We closed another loop portion of our road-trip when we drove through Arco.

We made another quick stop in Twin Falls for gas and dinner before moving on. Sunset came over the arid mountains of northern Nevada and so did an invasion of moths. The front of our car became completely covered in their little smashed bodies and our windshield didn't go more than a couple of seconds before needing to be sprayed again. We're not sure if they were Ghost Moths we had heard about on the news but if they were then the cars along the interstate were doing some good pest control. About an hour after sunset we finally drove away from their cloud and sped the rest of the way home without anymore little fuzzy comets briefly streaking past the headlights toward our windshield.

Once we were home we quickly unloaded the car, showered, and got ready for bed. We covered the distance from Kalispell in about an hour less than what it had taken us to get there on Day 1 but it still did a number on our backs. Our bed felt great. The end of another fantastic trip had come. We had lots of pictures to go through and some souvenirs for a scrapbook but most importantly a lot of great memories. The time had also come to start thinking about the next trip...
