Showers Lake Falls

When I was looking at hiking to Showers Lake, I thought there might be a waterfall below it, due to the steepness of the terrain. I didn't find anything large, but I was able to find this nice, slim one and the views from the rock outcropping to the north of it are fantastic, which made the expenditure of energy worth it. If you're at Showers Lake and are looking for a little more exercise or to kill a little bit of time, take a short, steep walk down to see this waterfall. Who knows, maybe this is the "shower" that the lake takes its name from. This waterfall may have a few companions downstream, but I didn't venture any further downstream. To the best of my knowledge no one else online describes this waterfall.

Directions

At the outlet from Showers Lake (hike description here), follow the stream downhill to the north-northeast (pretty steep, travel at your own risk) until you've descended a little over 150' from the lake. From the eastern side of the stream, you'll be able to get the best view of the main section of this waterfall. To get a view of more of the waterfall you'll need to be on the other side of the stream and there aren't any good crosses at the waterfall. If you want to be on the western side of the stream, I would start from the lake west of the outlet, walk northwest for a little while and find a lightly used trail that follows the stream down. The upper section of this waterfall is immediately upstream of the main section and the lower section (which can be seen in the first picture on the photos page) is immediately downstream of the main section.
