This is a gorgeous 73' high, 75' wide multi-tiered waterfall on Glen Alpine Creek just upstream of Fallen Leaf Lake near South Lake Tahoe, CA. It is also referred to as Lower Glen Alpine Falls, Fallen Leaf Falls, or Big Falls. This is one of the best waterfalls in the Tahoe area and is easy to get to. Therefore, don't expect to have it to yourself unless you arrive early in the morning or late in the evening. The trailhead, located another ~1/2 mile up the road, is very popular during the summer and rightly so. Modjeska Falls, Glen Alpine Falls' upstream little brother, is located just a little ways from the trailhead. These two waterfalls serve as a warmup for the scenic experiences the Desolation Wilderness has to offer. This waterfall is best seen during the spring and early-summer months when snowmelt fills the creek. Later in the summer and into fall the creek will only trickle down the tiers.Location

Follow this road for ~0.1 miles to where there are a few dirt parking areas available off the side of the road on a sharp turn. The waterfall is immediately northwest of here. You should be able to hear if not see the waterfall from the road.
