Location

According to the topo map this waterfall drops over 600' as it makes its way towards the West Walker River in several steps near Lane Lake in the Hoover Wilderness just south of Leavitt Meadows. To get a full view of this waterfall you'll have to do a little off-trail walking, but you may just encounter an old plane crash site as I did. The base of the waterfall may be accessible, but it would require crossing the West Walker River & West Fork West Walker River.

Directions

From the CA-108/US-395 intersection northwest of Bridgeport, follow CA-108 west for ~6.9 miles before turning left into the Leavitt Meadows Campground. Follow the one-way loop clockwise and park in the day-use parking area at the northern end of the campground loop. Cross over the West Walker River on the footbridge and follow the Leavitt Meadows Trail (stay right at junction with Secret Lake Trail). After ~2.2 miles the trail intersects with the Secret Lake Trail again (stay right). From here, follow the trail around and past both Roosevelt Lake & Lane Lake and start climbing the ridge to the south of the lakes. At ~2.0 miles from the last intersection, leave the trail to the west and climb the hill. From this hill you should be able to see this waterfall to the west. This waterfall is also somewhat visible from just south of Lane Lake. The base of the waterfall may be accessible, but this would require crossing the West Walker River and the West Fork West Walker River. Be sure to have an up-to-date topo map, because the trail no longer follows the river immediately southwest of Lane Lake.
