Snyder Lakes

Summary: A nice hike through old growth red cedar, larch, and hemlock to a subalpine lake and accompanying waterfall. This hike is moderately trafficked and most of the crowds you'll see will be on the Sperry Trail. The description here takes you to the waterfall between the two Snyder Lakes. Access to the Upper Lake requires steep scrambling and route-finding abilities (route not described here). From the West Glacier entrance station, follow the Going-to-the-Sun Road north for ~1.1 miles to a stop sign. Turn right and continue northeast on the Going-to-the-Sun Road for another ~8.9 miles to the Lake McDonald Lodge. Turn left into the parking area (loop). The trail begins on the east side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road, just north of Snyder Creek.
