*"Requiem Stanzas", "Greetings Moment 2 - in memoriam Pierre Boulez" (Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the BR)

A very special world premiere: on behalf of the BR concert series "musica viva" Wolfgang Rihm wrote his "Requiem Stanzas". In addition, there is the work "Greetings Moment 2 - in memoriam Pierre Boulez" to hear when Mariss Jansons is on the podium of choir and symphony orchestra of the BR.

Wolfgang Rihm celebrates his 65th birthday on March 13th. But instead of accepting gifts, he has presented the musica viva of Bayerischer Rundfunk and the music world with a new work. He answered the composition commission of musica viva with a full-length work: the requiem verses. He has written the verses on poems by Rainer Maria Rilke, Johannes Bobrowski and Hans Sahl, on texts of the Bible and the liturgy. He composed them for three soloists, for mixed choir and orchestra: for Mojca Erdmann, Anna Prohaska and Hanno Müller-Brachmann, for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
