Two weighty, romantically influenced works of the 20th century are conducted by Mariss Jansons on the podium of Bavarian Radio Choir and Symphony Orchestra: Korngold's Violin Concerto - with Leonidas Kavakos as soloist - and Rachmaninoff's symphonic cantata "Die Blocken". The opening will be marked by John Corigliano's "Fanstasia on an Ostinato".

Works by Corigliano, Rachmaninoff and a surprise piece are on the program of this concert. In addition, the Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos Korngold interpreted violin concerto in D major.
