T20 Update - 29/07/14

Post date: Jul 30, 2014 11:39:51 AM

This Tuesday both teams played thier last competitive T20 matches of the season. With the Division 1 title already sealed thanks to wins over Tavistock and South Petherwin in the last 2 weeks, the 1XI welcomed Luckett to the Millaton Ground looking to complete an unbeaten T20 league season. This came, but not in the way that we were hoping with the game being abandoned with the game shaping up nicely. Luckett were 92-4 from 16 overs batting first, when unfortunately Pat Ewen suffered a dislocated shoulder taking the ball down the leg side and both teams agreed that the safety of the player was more important than the continuation of the game. The 2s thrashed Lydford by 8 wickets to go top of Division 2 by 1 point; meaning that if Launceston beat Sticklepath next week then Bridestowe/Oke will win both Tamar League Divisions - come on Lanson!

Also the 1XI went down to DCL Premier Division team Cornwood by 70 runs in the quarter final of the Devon T20 competition which we qualified for by winning the Tavi 10/10 tournament. We excelled in the field to restrict the hosts to 142 all out thanks to great spells by Tom Fog (2 wickets), Jack (2), Gary (3) and Sam (3) who finished the innings by bowling the last 2 batsmen in the final over. The batting didn't go quite so well with oversees Byron Langley proving very hard to get away for all of our batsmen. The only man to get going was Phil Hatton who clubbed a quickfire 35 as we were bowled out for 72.
