Post date: Feb 20, 2013 9:56:34 PM

The annual BCC dinner and presentation evening was held at the Arundel Arms last weekend. It was very well attended and proved to be a fine evening of food, drink and speeches!

Here is a summary of the awards presented -

1st XI

Batting

Mark Fog deservedly picked up the award having been one of the few consistent batsmen this season! He made two half centuries and numerous match winning innings!

1. Mark Fogerty 267 runs, ave 29.6

2. Jack Hatton 252 runs, ave 28.

3. Phil Hatton 160 runs, ave 17.7

Bowling

Skipper Lee Jutson walked away with a very impressive 29 wickets this season, 6th best in the League, along with a decent bowling average. He picked up wickets every time he bowled and truly led by example!

1. Lee Jutson 29 wkts, ave 14.41

2. Tom Fogerty 17 wkts, ave 21.29

3. Dan Fogerty 14 wkts, ave 23.14

2nd XI

Batting

Charlie Ewen took the batting award for the 2nd XI (much to the dismay of his sons!). He managed to pick up runs whenever he played and proved very valuable to the side. Lets just hope he is fit for all of next season!!

1. Charlie Ewen 89 runs, ave 17.80

2. Simon Tremain 70 runs, ave 17.5

3. Mark Butler 56 runs, 11.2

Bowling

In a disappointing season for the 2nd XI Darren was his usual consistent self for the team. Opening the bowling he regularly took wickets and finished the season with an impressive average of 13.00. Darren could not attend the evening so his award was gracefully accepted by skipper Mark Butler!

1. Darren Hunt 10 wkts, ave 13.00

2. Callum Mallet 8 wkts, ave 22.38

3. Mark Butler. 6 wkts, ave 24.67

1st XI Player Of The Season

This went to Jack Hatton, who throughout the season put in some great batting performances. He made numerous 30s and 40s providing a great platform for the rest of the team. He was also his usual energetic self in the field and a vital member of the 1st XI!! Unfortunately though he was not dedicated enough to make the journey home for the evening! Father Phil gratefully accepted the award.

2nd XI Player Of The Season

Pat Ewen took the award for the 2nd XI, he had a great season with the bat and became a key player for of the 2nd XI. He also developed greatly as a wicket-keeper and will surely take up that position when Mark hangs up the gloves!

Under 18 Player Of The Season

Dan Fogerty was awarded under 18 player of the season. He has also developed greatly, forming a good partnership with fellow opening bowler and brother Tom (some healthy sibling rivalry!). At only 15 he was one of the youngest players in the league but still managed to get numerous wickets and was one of the first names on the team sheet!

Club-man Of The Year

Although everyone did their bit for the club again this year Gavin was the person who truly deserved the award. He was more than just the club development officer this season. From running the auction at the start of the season to some great playing performances in the middle and organising the dinner and awards evening he really has been vital to the club in every way.

Here's to a good 2013 season!!!
