Bridestowe CC 2nd XI v Hatherleigh CC 3rd XI - 22nd July 2017

It was with some amazement that the teams turned up at Millaton as the weather on Friday had been so bad that the pitch was underwater. The covers had however done thier job and despite threatening skies, skipper Lee Jutson strode to the middle to see if he could extend his winning run. Sadly, and on a day that it really did matter, it wasn't to be and Hatherleigh had no hesitation in putting Briddy in on what was always going to be a variable track.

It was 'one of those days', as Hatherleigh bowled good lengths but variable lines and got a lot out of the pitch, especially bowling from the road end. To be fair, there were few terrible shots but many that were mis-timed. Absolutely everything went to hand and the only resistance came from Bomber who top scored with 22, Ian Jutson 18 n.o and Extras which also got 22. There were 4 rain delays which didn't help the batters keep concentration but it was with shaking heads that the innings finished for an early tea with the total only at 91.

The sun came out for the Hatherleigh reply and in contrast to the Bridestowe innings, mistimed shots went nowhere near fielders and the pitch started to behave much more predicatably. Skipper Jutson explored all his bowling options in rotation searching for a miracle but it was not to be as Hatherleigh coasted home with only 2 down.

Not a great day but at least there was a game, a shame that the toss was such a big factor but still room for improvement in the batting department. Scorecard here http://www.play-cricket.com/website/results/2910915
