"Here's my 3 for the week. The first two tracks are taken from a couple of LP's that surfaced from my cases this week and the third which I bumped into on youtube. Hope you folks like.

I picked up my 45 copy of "Angry" this week and ordered "Hackney Diamonds". The Stones are getting to be like the Black Knight who never gives up in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'.

Best wishes to all."

Paper Walls by Marc Cohn - "...from  'The Rainy Season'."

"This week's 3 feature what Waterloo Records in Austin once called the first family of Texas Country music. In a former life, when I used to hawk cheese for a living and had way less time than money, I used to fly to Texas for Cinco de Mayo weekends, always stopping at Waterloo to pick up a few Texas CDs for the drive to Gruene Hall. One time I picked up a Bruce Robison CD titled Wrapped. I had never heard of the guy, but low and behold it turned out to be a gem and when I got to Gruene, Bruce was playing the following night ! Exactly one year later I was back in Texas and quite by chance his big brother Charlie was playing that night in Bandera. Both shows were amazing. Sadly this week Charlie left the stage. They of course always say stuff like " one of a kind " etc.. All I'd say is, if you were ever lucky enough to catch Charlie live you would not forget that night."

" So here is Charlie singing about what Charlie knew best..."

My Hometown by Charlie Robison -

"And finally here's Charlie's little sister Robyn with another Texas Redneck Mother..."

"Hi RPMers. Thanks for your amazing selections last week - some really interesting tracks. I'd like to discuss some of these in detail but I'm a bit pushed for time. Here are my three for this week."

Smoking My Ganja by Capital Letters -

"Jayne's selection of a Mississippi John Hurt song a couple of weeks ago reminded me of the cover version on Logan Ledger's debut album from about three years ago."

Let The Mermaids Flirt With Me performed by Logan Ledger - "What a voice!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU928quBYQo

All The Wine In California by Logan Ledger - "...from his new "Golden State" album. He plays superb guitar too, his hero being Clarence White. (He's also a fan of The Grateful Dead, and does a very fine version of "Ripple")."

Conspiracies, Cults and UFOs by John R. Miller - "...which will be on his forthcoming album 'Heat Comes Down'."

"As we have a small reprieve at the moment from the Autumn, I’m going for lively choices this week."

"Keep rocking everyone. Take care."

Piers -

"Many thanks for keeping on with RPM, Tim. (A pleasure... Tim) It remains a great way to hear new music and be reminded of long forgotten tunes.

I do hope the weather holds for the Elmham Festival on Saturday Afternoon (It's being held in Kerry's boyfriend's yard). And Friday evening will duly be spent listening to Schottishes and making lashings of  tabbouleh and hummus..."

"I have to admit to a great fondness for the odd schottische. This version of an old favourite  seems jolly polite but the tune is right..."

The Blue Bird Schottische performed by William Groome -

"The patten for this week was pretty much set by Saturday evening. I have been asked to sing a harmony part with a friend on this traditional Northumbrian song which (I am told) predates the Yorkshire version we all know. I dug this out."

Whittingham Fair performed by Anna Tam -

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwp4GcrO3V0

"And I'll leave you all with this old favourite. Not jolly, but glorious all the same; Funeral Sentences for Queen Mary."

March to Canzona by Henry Purcell -

Tim

"This week I listened to..."

"...a new song from the forthcoming album by Johnny Flynn and Robert Macfarlane...a strange coincidence, following on from Jackie's choice last week, that this should pop into my In Box a few days later...."

Uncanny Valley by Johnny Flynn and Robert Macfarlane -

"...followed by a trad Irish fiddle tune interpreted by Keven Burke.."

The Doon Reel/The Reel of Mullinavat/Maud Miller performed by Kevin Burke with Cal Scott -

"....and lots of early Ozric Tentacles. Here's one from their 'Become The Other' album....which I'm now thinking is possibly their best LP. I'd previously been inclined towards Jurasic Shift which was the one I'd chosen for the RPM Desert Island Albums feature...."
