Medical Treatments Hazards for Children

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing", Edmund Burke.

Some medications are addictive : once started on them it can be difficult

to withdraw. As Dr. Peter R. Breggin pointed out, psychotropic medications have the same components as illegal drugs (cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines...) and as such lead to being addicted.

The damage done to children who are forced to take them (because of being diagnosed as autistic, ADHD, bipolar...) is all the worse when such intoxications are started early in the lives of the young victims and they have no right to refuse them.

Those drugs are dangerous to start, but are also dangerous to stop : withdrawal must be done very slowly and very gradually by regularly reducing the amount taken.

Some medications cause negative side effects that can be worse than the trouble they are supposed to improve. When considering intake for a child, we are in need first to check if the child has not been medicated for a while for a "problem" or so called by adults, because frequently medications can cause severe negative side effects that are worse than the original "symptom" (in view of adults) the medications were supposed to "treat".

In some cases, ending all medications can be enough to restore a child to a healthy condition. Then adults must be educated about differentiating their needs from those of their children's needs : frequently, what adults see as a problem (a symptom) is actually normal behavior for a child that must be respected in order to allow children to be children and go thru the necessary phases of the growth process physically as well as mentally and emotionally while remaining healthy.

Frequently efficiency of medications is not proven while they can be quite expensive and most often no real cure can be expected. They are the most profitable industry which main aim is not serve public health but make the biggest money possible.

Drug addicts who shoot themselves with illegal substances may have been

traumatized as children or babies when repeatedly given shots for medical reasons : these traumatic experiences were then not integrated in their personality, causing them later to compulsively re-enact these traumas endlessly, no matter how bad the injections harm their health and their life.

X-rays may cause cancer :

Dr Helen Caldicott : "When you have an X-ray, although it carries a very

minimal risk, there is a risk. And each X-ray you get adds to your risk of getting a cancer. So don't have an X-ray without absolutely knowing why.

We doctors tend to X-ray people too often for in case of being sued to have

an X-ray to show as evidence. It is said that 40% of all X-rays are taken unnecessarily. Unborn babies and young children are the most sensitive to

radiations. One X-ray to the pregnant mother' s abdomen increases the risk

of leukemia in the new person by 40%, just one X-ray."

The same goes for dentists.

From the International Commission on Radiological Protection in 1948 :

"Every bit of radiation carries with it the risk of cancer and of genetic damage

that can be passed on to one' s children."

Dr John Gofman, specialized in nuclear and physical chemistry, professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, in his 1999

book presents evidence that medical radiations are a major cause of cancer and of arteriosclerosis (coronary heart disease). Those include X-rays, fluoroscopy and CT "cat" scans. The mechanism is simple : radiations cause genetic mutations which eventually give rise to disease.

Also, one CT scan (in the big machines into which patients are drawn) is the equivalent in radiations of 600 X-rays for chest !

"A study showed that most doctors, including radiologists, do not understand the dangers of overexposure to radiation" (Trisha Torrey, patient advocate,

www.patients.about.com 2010).

Children left without a parent at night at hospital as some hospitals do not allow it :

There is a hazard of being abused by some night shift staff : some perverts in need to access children choose to work the night shifts because the circumstances are favorable with lack of witnesses.

Example : a young man needed surgery and at night was close to being raped by a night orderly, he could escape only thru help by the other patient who shared the room with him. He then chose to go sleep in his car on the parking lot because he felt safer there. He then reported the attempted crime to the hospital administrator who denied taking any action against the orderly : "you are a patient here, so what you say is not credible", he meant your mind might be disturbed. That meant the orderly could continue trying to abuse other young patients.

If a young man had difficulty to escape a criminal working inside a hospital,

how could a baby ?!

For these reasons, we on this project have the policy to let children decide if they want to be or want to continue being on medications or other medical treatments. But we make sure that they make an informed decision as to the

risks involved, and that they know at any time they can change their mind as we are always ready to drive them to their physician for any change they might feel a need for.

In this matter also we don't want to make decisions in the children' s place since we do not live in their bodies. Thus we do not know exactly how they feel nor exactly what troubles from their past they have to deal with.

Ideally we would rather avoid all medications because chemicals can intoxicate the body and hinder the emotional process, except for physical illnesses but we need to keep in mind that any trouble with health can be of

psychosomatic nature, at least partially.
