Tooth Decay Prevention

Are tooth decay and back pain wanted epidemics ?

Omega-3 fatty acids, especially the EPA ones, prevent tooth decay and painful joints and back. They are found in fish oil margarine, canola oil, flax seed oil, fresh whole milk, fat fish, walnuts, corn and foods made with corn : cornbread made with cornflour, cornmeal, corn syrup.

In the 20th century, some anthropologists asked permission to the inhabitants of the Marquesas Islands, an archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, to dig up remains of their ancestors to find out what objects were buried with them and what were the old time customs : they found that all jaws on the skeletons were still bearing all the teeth and the teeth were totally decay-free even though most of those people died of old age.

This was all the more remarkable as in those times toothpaste, toothbrushes and dentists were completely unknown. The reason for that teeth perfection is in their diet : being islanders in remote locations, they had to rely for their food only on their local resources, that is to say they ate fish everyday, raw and cooked.

The founder of this project by chance verified such benefits : being nonprofit and always concerned in saving money, when buying food, instead of butter while in France in the 1980's - 1990's, he took everyday fish oil margarine which was then very cheap and easy to find. When he moved to the U.S. in 2000, that food was nowhere to be found : the first winter he spent there he found himself suddenly totally disabled by extreme back pain which he had never experienced before, he found the remedy by using daily fish oil gels.

After that finding, he wrote to both the U.S. Secretary of Health and to the Health Minister in Paris to call attention on those facts. The U.S. Secretary answered that the letter was forwarded to the Service of Research in Odontology, and the French minister did not answer. Then total silence, nowhere the founder saw, especially with children, an informative campaign recommending to include in daily meals foods with EPA Omega-3s.

In the U.S., visits to dentists are part of the routine for many children, as it was too for the founder when a child in France in the 1950's - 1960's. No matter what was attempted, cavities in his teeth kept reappearing : brushing teeth after each meal, drinking water with fluor added, nothing would remedy.

Now the last visit he did to a dentist was in 1986.

Adults can also be frequently disabled by back pains, for which they can undergo surgery.

Given the officials and the professionals' silence on such health options, it seems they prefer to give priority to the professionals' lobbies rather than to progress in public health : if a daily diet including EPA Omega-3 fatty acids could eliminate for most children and adults tooth decay and back pains, most dentists and chiropractors would have to close their business.

Risk of poisoning by dental amalgams :

The French doctor Jean-Jacques Melet bravely revealed his finding that some persons having had their tooth decays treated by amalgam fillings afterward suffered with symptoms of poisoning by the mercury in these amalgams : intense chronic tiredness, depression, anguish, unexplained discomforts, and when the amalgams were removed the symptoms disappeared.

The risk of being intoxicated by this heavy metal is particularly high in children and pregnant women : the mercury directly in contact with teeth releases permanently vapors that are absorbed by the lungs and go in the blood, contaminating all the organs including the brain. During meals and when chewing a chewing-gum, the quantity of these vapors may be multiplied 10 folds (Rapport sur les effets des métaux lourds sur l'environnement et la sante, Gerard Miquel, 2001, p. 33 : in french).

In 2011, the Assembly of the Council of Europe "called strenuously the member states to forbid or restrict the use of heavy metals by the industry, the agriculture and the medical sector and especially by restricting or even forbidding amalgams as dental filling materials."

The dental amalgams became forbidden in many countries. There is a healthy and harmless alternative : the composites made with resin, but they demand definite skills from the dentists, and older practitioners were never trained to use them.
