B19- COURAGE

THE PROFESSIONAL LIFE ADVISER’S GUIDE (Little Gems Series)

B19. (THE PERSON) - COURAGE

A wise philosopher once said: “All the water in the Atlantic can’t even sink the smallest ship, unless it gets inside.” There’s a truth a man may ponder upon for hours.

There’s lots of “water” about just now - much talk of insurance getting harder to sell each day - much talk of men who produced a good volume of business last year unable to produce this year - much talk of defeat before the year is fully launched. But all of this “water” can’t sink even the humblest agent unless he let’s it get inside - unless he let’s it fill his mind, conquer his courage, control his thoughts.

Hold fast to this thought when courage sinks a bit, when the going seems hard, when you feel inclined to say, “Oh, well, I guess it can’t be done.” Bring your mind back, and say over and over again, “All the water in the Atlantic Ocean can’t sink even the smallest ship, unless it gets inside.”

It’s a great saying. Make it your anchor for the months ahead.
