The Lathrop Malemutes swept the North Pole Patriots

The Lathrop Malemutes swept the North Pole Patriots in last week’s prep rifle match.

The Malemutes won the smallbore match on Saturday at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Range, 1,994 to 1,625. The air rifle competition was shot on Thursday and Friday with Lathrop posting a 2,184-1,847 triumph.

Kasey Barnes led the Malemutes in both matches, posting a 510 out of 600 in the smallbore event and a 569 in the air rifle competition.

Jana Armstrong led North Pole in smallbore with a 479, while Brenna Welch notched a 506 in air rifle.

Lathrop also won the junior varsity matches. Liam Eberhardt led the Malemutes with a 480 in smallbore and a 488 in air rifle.

Michael Frank was North Pole’s top smallbore shooter with a 419 and Zachary Andrews led the air rifle squad with a 414.
