Recognized as the most comprehensive youth hunting program anywhere in North America, the Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) is the NRA's "graduate studies" program in outdoor skills and safety training for young hunters.

    • Competitor Check-in (5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.)

    • Opening Ceremonies (6:00 p.m. start)

    • Hunter Responsibility Exam Event

    • Wildlife Identification Event

SATURDAY, JUNE 6:

    • Rifle and Muzzleloader Shooting Events (8:00 a.m. start)
    • (Fairbanks Borough Outdoor Range, off South Cushman Street)
    • Lunch (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
    • (Fairbanks Trap Club, Old Steese Highway, off Hagelbarger Road)
    • Shotgun and Archery Shooting Events (1:00 p.m. start)

    • Riverboat Discovery II Cruise, Food, Sponsor Recognition, & Some Awards (6:30 p.m. start)
    • FREE cruise, with refreshments provided, for all youth competitors and their family members, coaches and their family members, and for all YHEC volunteers and sponsors. (Passenger loading starts at 6:30 p.m., riverboat sails at 7 p.m., Steamboat Landing, Discovery Drive)

SUNDAY, JUNE 7:

    • Hunter Safety Trail & Orienteering Events (8:00 a.m. start)
    • (Creamer's Field Waterfowl Refuge, near Creamer’s Barn - ADF&G, off 1300 College Road)
    • Lunch - BBQ (11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
    • (Kiwanis Building, Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds off College Road)
    • Closing Ceremonies – Awards & Prizes (After lunch/BBQ, when results/awards are ready)
