To all club members and guest: Eielson’s small arms range is a military training asset and we are guests. If the schedule shows AK ANG Drill, or USAF Drill, or some reference to military unit training, then the range is closed for club use.
The RSOs are all volunteers. If the calendar date is empty it means we did not get a volunteer for that day and range will not be open. Further, if nobody shows up after 1-1/2 to 2 hours or all the shooters leave early, the RSO will most likely leave as well.

If you need directions to get to the KD Range at Ft.Wainwright you can use google map or waze app or any app you like using to go to this address:
Range Rd, Fort Wainwright, Alaska 99703, United States
You need to stop at Building 5108 on the right after you pass the gate and go in and sign in before continuing driving down to the KD Range and follow the speed limit you are driving in federal property.
This address will take you 1500 feet short of the KD Range so just drive a little longer after your app tells you " You have arrived at your destination " :-)
Our temp cutoff as of 1 hour prior to show time is -20F for all our Range use
We have good news and bad news as of June 1st. 2020 , Due to current COVID19 directives, base access has been limited to active duty, retirees, employees with a CAC and personnel conducting official business, i.e. contractors. Until further notice personnel without access will not be permitted to utilize the range for recreational shooting or shooting matches.
21 Mile Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club Range Rules.
Updated October 2020
Individuals using the range will comply with the following rules and policies before, during and after shooting sessions in order to provide a safe environment for all shooters.
Follow all established safety rules and range policies at all times. Decisions of the Range Monitor are final.
Apply the Golden Rule of Gun Safety: Keep your gun pointed in a safe direction at all times.
Must attend safety briefing given by the Range Monitor prior to using the range
Shooters must have a signed and witnessed waiver of liability and hold harmless agreement on file before being able to use the range.
If you observe an unsafe situation, loudly announce “CEASE FIRE”. The Range monitor will take control of the situation.
All shooters will be required to sign in and out of the range. This log will be retained by the Club and be made available to the NCOIC of CATM upon request.
Guns will be unloaded and cased/holstered (see item h below) when transported to and from the range.
DO NOT HANDLE FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION WHILE PERSONNEL ARE DOWN RANGE. NO PERSONNEL WILL BE BETWEEN THE YELLOW READY LINE AND THE RED FIRING LINE DURING BREAKS.
Weapons will not be worn on your person (holstered or slung). Drawing from a holster or attaching a gun to the person such as sling around the chest and shooting is not allowed.
DO NOT GO FORWARD OF THE RED FIRING LINE AT ANY TIME WHEN THE LINE IS HOT. Ensure the Range Monitor has called the line safe and directed personnel down range before moving forward.
Ear protection is mandatory, and eye protection is highly encouraged.
DURING CEASE FIRE PERIODS, GUNS WILL REMAIN GROUNED (UNHANDLED) WITH ACTIONS OPEN, MAGAZINES REMOVED OR EMPTY AND CYLINDERS OPEN.
Shotguns are not allowed on range without the specific permission of the Range Monitor
Shoot only at targets directly in front of your firing point. Do not shoot at the structure of the club’s target frames. CATM target frames and steel targets are not authorized for use during recreational shooting.
Metal targets must be approved by the Range Monitor prior to use.
Use of club tables and benches is highly encouraged to avoid walking to/from the firing line with weapons. Load firearms at the firing line only and do not move a loaded firearm from the firing line.
If you have a problem or malfunction, remain at the firing line, maintain control of the firearm and get the attention of the Range Monitor.
Shooters are responsible for their equipment and trash including picking up their expended cartridge cases. Target frames must be removed from the range prior to leaving for the day.
Children must be supervised and under the control of the parent or legal guardian.
Smoking is prohibited within 50 feet of the firing line.
Shooting activity can leave dust containing metals and combustion products on surfaces. Shooters are advised to wash their hands before handing food.
Failure to conduct yourself safely or disobeying the Range Monitor may result in being banned from further participation in recreational shooting with the Club.
