Nanooks rifle team wins first Patriot Conference match

FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Nanooks picked up their first Patriot Rifle Conference win of the season on Saturday in El Paso, Texas.

The Nanooks downed the UTEP Miners 4,634-4,529.

The Miners’ 4,529 was the second highest score they’ve had this season.

Individual scores for the Nanooks were not available.

The Miners’ Rachael Schoenrock tied her career-high with a 585 in air rifle. She added a 570 in smallbore, the highest on the team.

It was also the fifth straight match she has fired at least a 570 in smallbore.

Jessica Kinder tied for the Miners’ lead with a 585 in air rifle. She also shot a 558 in smallbore.

Monthserrat Serna shot a career-high 554 in air rifle added a 536 in smallbore.

The Nanooks stay in Texas to face Texas Christian University today in Fort Worth, Texas.
